The pilot briefing begins at 7 a.m. Plan to arrive by 6 a.m. Be prepared for significant traffic and delays at the White Sands National Park entrance on Saturday. Please plan accordingly.
The Sunday launch at Ed Brabson Balloon Park in Alamogordo typically has a smaller crowd than the Saturday launch at White Sands National Park.
The event itself is free, however, White Sands National Park charges $25 per vehicle for Saturdays launch. All Sunday activities at the Ed Brabson Balloon Park in Alamogordo are free.
No. There will not be a balloon glow at the 2026 event.

No. Balloon rides are not openly available during the event. Hot air balloon rides are reserved for sponsors and some crew. If you are interested in being involved, please go to our contact page to receive more information.
The entrance to White Sands National Park is approximately 13 miles from Alamogordo on U.S. Highway 70.
No. Balloon launches depend on wind, visibility, and other weather conditions. Pilots make the final decision based on safety. A launch may be delayed or canceled at any time.
Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, comfortable shoes, and clothing that can be layered. Early mornings may be cool, but temperatures can rise quickly after sunrise.
